Light Thinning vs Progressed Thinning Hair
Nioxin system kits are formulated to address two stages of hair thinning: light and progressed. Differentiating between the two is quite simple because when the thinning has progressed you can easily see it. Take a close look at your client's scalp and try to assess the hair density: if they have light thinning, they will have more hair strands per square centimeter rather than when they have progressed thinning.
Thinning also appears differently for women and men. Thinning for men will start at the crown area or they might see a receding hairline. For women, thinning will be noticeable at the parting.
Which System Kit to Use Based on Hair Type
Once you’ve figured out how much thinning the client have, you will have to find the right System Kit based on their hair type. Nioxin split the system kits in three different types based on hair type and the level of moisture it needs:
- Natural hair, that needs low levels of moisture
- Coloured hair that needs a moderate amount of moisture
- Chemically treated hair, that needs intense moisture
Let’s break it down.
System Kits for Natural Hair
Natural hair is hair that has not been coloured, or its texture has not been changed through a chemical treatment such as perming, straightening or bleaching. This type of hair will have different needs than hair that’s been coloured for example.
System Kit 1 and
System Kit 2 are formulated with light conditioning agents that provide light moisture.
System Kit 1 is designed for natural, non-colored hair with light thinning. It is formulated to amplify texture and protect the hair against breakage. It also refreshes the scalp and delivers thicker, fuller hair.
System Kit 2 is formulated for natural, non-colored hair with progressed thinning. It delivers thicker, fuller hair, while protecting every hair strand against damage. Contains UV protection ingredients.
System Kits for Coloured Hair
Just like skin, hair also needs moisture otherwise it becomes straw-like, limp and can lead to breakage
. After colouring, the hair becomes drier so it needs special care.
System Kit 3 and
System Kit 4 are created specifically to address coloured hair needs and deliver more moisture.
System Kit 3 is designed for colored hair with light thinning. It is formulated to remove follicle-clogging sebum, fatty acids and environmental residue while amplifying hair texture, providing moisture balance and protecting your color.
System Kit 4 is formulated for colored hair with progressed thinning. It delivers thicker, fuller hair by removing follicle-clogging sebum, fatty acids and environmental residue, while providing moisture balance and color protection.
System Kits for Chemically Treated Hair
Hair that’s been chemically treated to change its texture, through permanent straightening, perming or bleaching, is prone to damage and severe dryness. So if the client has been chemically treating their hair and are suffering with thinning, the right kit for them is either
System Kit 5 or
System Kit 6 (depending on how advanced your thinning is). Both kits are formulated to deliver intense moisture to very dry and damaged hair.
System Kit 5 is created for chemically treated, bleached, permed or straightened hair with light thinning. It’s formulated to remove follicle-clogging sebum, fatty acids and environmental residues while amplifying hair texture, restoring the moisture level and color protection.
System Kit 6 is designed for chemically treated, bleached, permed or straightened hair with progressed thinning. It delivers thicker, fuller hair with smooth control, whilst cleansing and amplifying the hair texture. It also restores moisture level and color protection.
